Journee, The Novel

Journee

Savannah, a young, southern belle is best friends with her slave, Ruth. But when Savannah grows up and her mother forces her to understand her role as the Misses, she and Ruth grow drastically apart. Playful runs through the fields, become painful beatings if supper isn’t prepared on time.

After the Master of the plantation is fatally shot, Savannah and Ruth flee, to avoid persecution. With no one but each other to rely on, will Ruth and Savannah be able to place their differences aside or will they witness more bloodshed before they reach the North?

“It’s one thing to be the daughter of a white woman who owned slaves but once you become the white woman who owned slaves, your aspect on life changes.”
